05/06/10- Things are starting to grow... We had a small but succesful hatch of heritage turkeys. Percentages were down a little bit from expected. We hatched close to 30 heritage chicks in our incubators, and our hens are still sitting on about 30 eggs. They are all doing good in the brooder. Our new layer flock has been ranging for about a month now and are just starting to lay. The First group of broiler chicks will go out to pasture early next week. and will be processed and available for purchase by mid June. we expect to have fresh chicken available every week throughout the summer. You can reserve birds with a small deposit and they will be available when you request, or they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Heirloom tomatoes (Brandywine & Amish Paste) and Bell Peppers have been started and moved outside to the cold-frame and doing well. Shell and Snap Peas are in and should sprout any day now. Additional plantings will continue through June. Check our 2010 Growing Season for approximate availabilty of produce. |
